Cumberland Mechanical is seeking entry-level and experienced technicians for the Middle Tennessee area; this position is responsible for performing residential HVAC maintenance and service at the highest level. Technicians will be primarily responsible for performing repairs, maintenance, and installation of various equipment, including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, furnaces, and humidifiers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to residential customers
- Respond timely to daily residential HVAC service dispatched calls
- Perform leak detection, evacuation, recovery, and recharging
- Perform advanced full-system, specific diagnostics
- Perform advanced refrigeration repairs
- Perform service and maintenance of geothermal, zone, and dual fuel systems
- Perform advanced ductwork repairs, such as patching holes and reconnecting
- Diagnose and/or replace OEM parts other than truck stock during a planned or demand service call
- Educate and advise customers of system operation and adequately explain needed repairs found
- Ensure vehicle cab and cargo area is clean, neat, and organized
- Utilize company technology and individual technical capability to provide a great experience to our residential customers
- Meet predetermined sales lead goals, revenue targets, and warranty
- Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:
- Understands proper operation and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment and advanced electronics of the system
- Able to troubleshoot and repair advanced piping systems, including copper, plastic, and carbon steel
- Advanced knowledge of duct systems and air quality equipment
- Knowledge of energy conservation practices/equipment as it relates to residential HVAC and air quality/filtering systems
- EPA Certification
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Utilize our technology, technical capability, and customer service to provide a great experience to our customers. Primarily responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various equipment, including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, intake fans, and economizers and humidifiers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to)
- Possessing a basic understanding of the refrigerant cycle, identifying components in the refrigeration circuit, understanding how each part works, diagnosing problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart, and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance troubleshooting. Understanding refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging.
- Understands basic electrical theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single-phase and three-phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. Ability to read basic wiring diagrams. Understanding of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current, and resistance values. Must be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.
- Understands the process of treating the air to control its temperature, humidity, and distribution simultaneously. Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Understands basic heating cycle to include identifying components in the heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and troubleshooting. Understands the theory of combustion and how it relates to combustible fuels such as gas and oil.
